MediaKit — Free App for YouTube Audio and Video, in the Original or a Dubbed Language

A free Android app that downloads audio and video from YouTube. When a video has more than one audio language, it lets you choose the original or a dubbed track before downloading. It then compresses, converts and sorts your files on the phone, with no internet needed for the processing.

What it changes

Lecture series and long episodes end up as files on a phone or an old MP3 player. Choosing the audio language before the download, and getting the files compressed and in the right order after it, saves the afternoon usually spent converting and renaming.

Who it is for

  • People who follow lecture series or long programmes and want them on the phone
  • Anyone who prefers a video in its original voice, or in a dubbed language, and wants to choose
  • Owners of old MP3 players who need files in the right order
  • Anyone with long recordings to trim, compress or clean up

Available in: Android users, in Arabic and English

What it does

From YouTube

  • Audio or video in two tabs, with the real size of every quality shown before the download starts.
  • Playlists: tick the episodes you want and see the real total size first.
  • Follow playlists and channels and download new items automatically, on Wi-Fi only if you choose, with a daily data cap.

Original or dubbed audio

  • When a video has several audio languages, they appear in the download window and you pick one for audio or video.
  • The chosen track is merged with the video quality you picked. Available from beta 2.3.0; the older stable build does not have it.

On the phone

  • Convert to MP3 at any bitrate, compress, change speed without changing pitch, trim, merge, remove silence and normalise loudness.
  • Video: compress by quality and resolution, cut without re-encoding, convert between MP4, MKV, WebM and AVI, extract the audio.
  • Orders files and folders for old MP3 players (FAT32) so a series plays in sequence.

Releases

  • Beta: the newest features, including the audio language picker and the in-app AI assistant. Stable: older and simpler.

How businesses use it

Listen in the original or a dubbed language

Before a download starts, the window lists the audio languages the video offers, with the original marked. Choose one for the audio file or for the video, and the app saves that track.

Prepare a series for an old MP3 player

Download a playlist, then let the app number and order the files and folders for FAT32 so the player plays them in sequence, without renaming anything by hand.

Keep only the speech

For a playlist of talks, the beta can strip music and long silences on a server, and on the phone it can isolate speech and remove a repeated intro.

Shrink a long recording

Compress an audio or video file by bitrate or by quality and resolution, trim it, or speed it up without changing the pitch. It runs on the phone, offline.

Questions buyers ask

Can I download a YouTube video with the dubbed audio instead of the original?

Yes, when the video offers more than one audio language. The download window lists the available languages with the original marked, and you choose one. This is in the beta from version 2.3.0; the older stable build does not have it.

Does MediaKit need internet?

Processing such as compressing, converting and sorting works offline. Downloading from YouTube needs internet, and the link is analysed on a MediaKit server to fetch the qualities and their sizes.

Is MediaKit free, and which phones does it run on?

It is a free Android app for Android 8.0 or newer. There is no iPhone version.

Which content may I download?

Only content you own, have permission to download, or whose terms allow it. MediaKit is not affiliated with YouTube or Google, and you are responsible for what you download.
